Forest Research and Development (FRD), the first forest science publication in the northwest of Iran, is licensed by the Commission of Scientific Publications of Iran's Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology (MSRT) and affiliated to Urmia University. In the most recent MSRT evaluation, FRD received a scientific rank of "B" in the subject of forestry. It is also indexed in the Islamic World Science Citation (ISC) database, and according to the most recent assessment (2022), it has an impact factor of 0.330 and is one of the first list publications with a quality grade of Q1 (the only journal in the field of forestry in Iran with this rating). This quarterly journal publishes research achievements in the field of forest sciences with the goal of disseminating and publishing research in various fields of forest sciences and providing a suitable context for the exchange of ideas and information in the Iran's scientific research and student societies. This journal publishes the latest findings from completed, original studies on any aspect of forest-based science, including approaches and methods of silviculture and forest ecology, socioeconomic issues and forest policy, forestry and forest biometry, remote sensing and geographical information systems, forest logging and utilization, road construction, hydrology and water resources in forests, and other related fields.

FRD is a peer-reviewed open access publication, and published articles are available for free. FRD publishes open access publications under a Creative Commons license, and authors retain the copyright and full publishing rights of their articles without restrictions (CC BY).

Publication Frequency: Published 4 times in a year: March, June, September, & December.

Average review time : 37 days

Average submission to acceptance time: 118 days

In addition, from the inaugural issue, abstracts of approved articles in this journal have been published in English in order to present FRD to important scientific organisations. Furthermore, the abstracts of this journal's articles are included in various important scientific institutions, including:

  • Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC)
  • Scientific Information Database (SID)
  • The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)

Prior to the review process, the following materials must be submitted:

1- Manuscript file (without author(s) information)

2- Title page (with author(s) information)

3- Completed copyright form

4- Completed Conflict of Interest form

5- Highlights

6- Graphical abstract

7- Original figures in MS-excel format (if applicable)
